Martin McClellan

Managing Partner

Who is Martin McClellan?

Raised in Reno from age 10, Martin earned his Bachelors in Business Administration from UNR in 1987. In 1989 Dean Witter Financial invited him to become a Financial Advisor. Partnering with his father, Dale (1935-2000) in 1996, they built a practice based upon doing the right things for their clients and focusing upon a client’s specific financial needs. With an efficient financial planning model focused upon client service, asset allocation and client risk assessment in 2006, Martin, along with three of his established and veteran partners, opened Legacy Wealth Planning. Martin frequently shares that this was, “one of my top five life’s decisions I had ever made”.

Proud

He is extremely proud that his entrepreneurial spirit helped bring to the community a financial planning resource, independent of corporate bias, where an investor can reach out for honest, morale and conscientious financial advice and guidance.  He is also honored to have been here during the financial crisis of 2007-2009 as without him, clients may have been misguided by the unregulated media and possibly made investment decisions that would have been detrimental to their future.

Responsibilities

At Legacy Wealth Planning, Martins’ key responsibility is as a Professional LPL Financial Advisor serving the needs of his clients. Second, he educates, interprets and educates his clients and prospective clients on the myriad of financial information they are bombarded with daily; helping to create a more informed and educated financial community. Finally, Martin manages all the Information Technology for Legacy Wealth Planning.

Life Pride /Accomplishments

Married for over 22 years Martin has three adult children all positively contributing to our local economy. With a passion for the underwater world, Martin was the founder of New Millennium Dive Expeditions which is a scientific research SCUBA diving organization that focuses upon Lake Tahoe and its variety of environmental and historical issues. Martin has donated thousands of hours of his personal time supporting Lions Clubs International, the Washoe County School District and environmental and historical concerns surrounding Lake Tahoe. When he is not involved with his incredible family or attending to satisfied clients or exploring the depths of the underwater world, you will find him hiking and climbing in the 300 plus mountain ranges of Nevada.
